The Civil Controller will be joining a close-knit, passionate team for one of the fastest growing Heavy Highway Contracting companies in Montana. They are experience some serious growth and need a Civil Controller to act as liaison between the corporate accounting department and the field operations. This is a hands-on position that manages financial and accounting functions for sites, ensures that accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and that internal policies and controls are followed. A major function of this position is involvement in the full cycle of projects from startup to project completion.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manages site implementation of corporate accounting-related initiatives
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual operating budget
  • Prepares ad hoc reports and works on special projects as requested
  • Review all successful buds and supporting documents, drawings, bid item cost detail, subcontractor quotes
  • Track material handling and project schedule to determine project budgets
  • Accumulate project information to set up job in HCSS Heavy Jobs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor s Degree in Finance or Accounting, Master s Degree preferable
  • 15 years finance or accounting experience
  • Experience in civil construction with Heavy Highway experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting for construction contracts preferred
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local financial regulations
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting
  • Ability to perform with a high level of discretion, professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to effectively train and manage staff
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within tight time frames
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work remotely with managers and staff in various locations
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Foundation
  • Prefer knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid estimating and bidding software
  • Heavy job field management
  • Understanding of work in progress reports (WIP Reporting)
  • Ability to work with accrual acct procedures

Travel to job sites as needed.
