Our client, a leading Tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry, is seeking a Safety Specialist with knowledge of safety legal requirements including OSHA and DEP regulations. This company is a world leader in the manufacturing of construction materials, automotive components such as GMT, EPP, and interior decorations, and other plastics products such as packing materials and films.

Job Description

Implement pro-active safety programs to improve leading and lagging safety indicators (such as

OSHA Recordable Injuries, Incident Investigation completion, Timely Action Item completion, etc.)

Perform Incident investigations and update OSHA log.

Manage workers compensation claims.

Perform Safety Inspections of Plant and provide findings to management.

Support any outside inspection (such as OSHA, DEP, etc.) and serve as lead representative.

Work with team members through a safety committee or other method and proactively promote

safety and improve safety performance.

Complete all required federal, state, and local reporting requirements.

Conduct team member OSHA mandatory training programs and other training such as First

Responder, Fire Extinguisher, etc. As required.

Create training programs where necessary.

Lead continuous improvement efforts in areas of recycling and lessening the environmental impact

of the facility.

Recommend and implement programs to increase team member input, recognize team member

achievements, and increase team member safety morale. Coordinate and assist in implementation

of programs.

Assist team members with Safety issues or concerns as needed and provide regular feedback to

management regarding team member s concerns.

Perform new hire orientation and initial safety training for new team members.

Any and all other duties as assigned by Management.


An A.S. Degree from an accredited institution in Occupational Safety or closely related field. B.S.

degree is preferred.

Two plus years' experience in safety within a manufacturing environment or other facility.

Knowledge of Safety legal requirements including OSHA and DEP regulations.

Intermediate skill level in MS Office including the ability to create presentations, training programs,

reports, spreadsheets, formulas, charts and graphs.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to handle confidential information and communications.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments.

CPR/AED and or EMT certified
