Our client, an award-winning company in the commercial/ industrial energy solutions space, is hiring a Buyer for their Vancouver, Washington headquarters location.

The Buyer role is responsible for buying materials to support lighting solutions sold to commercial customers. You have the means and opportunity to raise profits by making the most high-quality and cost-effective purchases.



Responsibilities:

Develop profitable purchasing strategies

Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department

Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders

Verifying the receipts of the items and comparing the items received and resolve any errors in the shipments

Track and manage warranty returns and replacements between suppliers and end customers

Evaluating the suppliers based on the quality, price, and the delivery speed

Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics

Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts

Prepare and submit detailed reports (revenues, buying expenditures etc.)

Attend events, fairs and exhibitions to keep abreast of the market s trends

Interviewing and visiting suppliers to ensure they meet quality and offering requirements

Keeping the information accessible by maintaining worksheets and filing documents

Performing the purchase planning by collecting, summarizing, and analyzing data and trends

Keeping track of the changing market trends

Updating the job knowledge by undertaking educational opportunities




Required skills:

Proven experience as a buyer or relevant role

Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices, terms and conditions

Communication skills to negotiate effectively and maintain profitable relationships

Knowledge of market research, data analysis, and purchasing best practices

Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A strong analytical mindset

Keen eye for detail and a commercial mindset

Outstanding organizational skills

Experience of managing all levels of organization

Subject matter expertise development

Supplier relationship management

Project management skills

Achieving the delivery of the decided targets

Knowledge about the end to end procurement process

Flexible approach and ability to manage any change effectively

Building effective relationships at all levels of the organization

Expert in managing and resolving conflicts

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to work under pressure

BSc/BA in Supply Chain, Business Administration or relevant field and minimum of two years of relevant experience

APICS certification preferred
