Job Description


The basic function of the Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician is to maintain the electrical and mechanical performance of machine centers and facilities throughout the plant. This includes, among other things, preventative maintenance, minimizing unscheduled downtime and assurance that our client' s mill is compliant with all State and Federal standards and safety codes. The Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician must efficiently and effectively maintain all plant safety requirements, the operational reliability of the plant infrastructure (power, air and dust collection systems), and the operational reliability and performance in all production and support machines.


  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing, including related machinery and processes
  • Ability to trouble shoot electrical and mechanical problems
  • Strong working knowledge of high end 480-volt industrial electrical systems, and the ability to read wiring diagrams
  • Strong working knowledge of MiG and stick welding
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic systems
  • Strong knowledge of overall PLC programs and functions
  • Strong leadership and training skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Excellent fundamental math and writing skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to utilize skills including use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Exhibit strong listening skills, and exhibit objective and independent thinking and work well with minimal supervision

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to five (5) hours)

Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds to the waste

Valid driver s license with a clean driving record
  • High school diploma required and /or Associates degree preferred with at least 2 years of experience preferred for desired qualifications


To perform this job successfully, the technician must be able to perform each duty responsibly in a safe and satisfactory manner.

Plant Safety and Security:

Assist in determination of root cause of issues causing safety issues, poor quality, or poor productivity *

Throughout the plant site, maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times*

Ensure the use of good safety practices by employees and external personnel, assisting in the maintenance of the plant building, infrastructure, and equipment *

Identify and report risks that could affect plant operations or the performance of maintenance tasks. Ensure that practices meet applicable local or state code (ie building, electrical, etc) *

Product Quality:

Responsible for compliance with all maintenance, and preventative maintenance programs to ensure the achievement of product quality standards for all products. It is important that corrective and preventive actions and recommendations be made on an ongoing basis *

Responsible for meeting all quality improvement programs that involve maintenance of equipment and maintenance service. This will require an ongoing review of the remanufacturing process to improve product quality and/or performance. Specific recommendations and new ideas will be reviewed with the management team It is important that corrective and preventive actions and recommendations be made on an ongoing basis *

Plant Maintenance and Operations:

Working with the Maintenance Manager, prioritize plant maintenance, machine maintenance and projects. This will include an ongoing preventative maintenance program *

Responsible for the completion of all preventative maintenance, maintenance, and projects as to compliance with established time objectives*

Meet with the Area Supervisors to review the performance of the plant equipment including determining the root cause of breakdowns and corrective action *

Maintain and update key parts inventory list to insure maximum plant uptime *

Works with the Maintenance Manager to comply with the established budget for the purchase of spare parts supplies, annual maintenances, new projects, modifications and improvements to protect the physical assets of the plant, and maintain or increase the future plant production capacity *

Brings to the attention of management any anticipated or immediate expenditures (either recommended or necessary) that fall outside the scope of the annual budget *
