Plant Operations Manager

Our client, a leading international die cast technology company, is seeking a Plant Operations Manager for their Auburn, AL facility.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for all manufacturing operations. Plant Operations Manager provides leadership within, and continual development of the operations structure including but not be limited to: production and financial controls, plant security and safety, OSHA compliance, quality, facilities, and all manufacturing areas and departments. The Operations Manager will be responsible for working with many functional areas across company to ensure consistency in operations and related strategies. This will include participation in all activities impacting the location and ensuring large-scale projects are completed on time, on budget and meet specified quality standards, production requirements and preset goals.


Oversee all plant operations and related support areas

Coordinate technical service activities across a broad range of internal and external assignments

Represent Company, interests in dealings with suppliers and customers

Accountable for manufacturing costs, quality and production quantities. Manage the effective use of production hours, skills, equipment and facilities.

Participate in planning production schedules, requirements and manufacturing controls as related to manufacturing operations

Work closely with Company plant management personnel to develop and implement strategies for operational improvement. Ensure efficiency standards for all operations are met

Responsible for development of capital and other annual budgeting including evaluating the Return on Investment (ROI) impact for the location. Responsible for maintaining and managing established budgets throughout fiscal year to achieve financial goals

Cost and evaluate new technologies and recommend strategies for acquisition and implementation

Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement concepts and projects to achieve annual goals.

Monitor and improve employee productivity and effectiveness related to Operations and maintain a commitment to employee involvement

Manage all aspects of plant safety, security and environmental compliance


Minimum ten years experience managing a die cast and machining operation or related field

Comprehensive knowledge of aluminum die cast and machining practices, processes, procedures and production support activities including quality, and efficiency and productivity standards.

Tool design knowledge and experience preferred

Manufacturing and management experience preferred

Bachelor' s Degree in Engineering, Business or related field preferred

Technical experience and familiarity with all facets of manufacturing process

Familiarity with Purchasing and Industrial Engineering functions as well as plant layout efficiencies

Strong leadership and motivational skills and the ability to develop leadership qualities in others

Ability to coordinate and organize multiple projects simultaneously

Well-developed analytical skills and knowledge of analysis techniques that assist in report preparation for decision-making purposes
