Are you ready to join a growing construction company and live in the heart of the Montana Rockies? A local Whitefish Custom Home Builder is looking to add a Purchasing Agent/ Contract Negotiator to their growing team!




Title: Purchasing Agent/ Contract Negotiator




SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for coordinating, preparing and reviewing subcontractor and

vendor proposals and executing contracts.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedule and actively participate in well prepared pre-bid conferences. Perform coordinated

value engineering and request subcontractor proposals.

Supervise others and/or directly prepare detailed quantity take-offs, develop specifications and

assign current market costs.

Draft/Negotiate written Subcontractor Scopes of Work to establish clear expectations with

Subcontractor and help avoid omissions.

Review subcontractor proposals for accuracy and prevent scope duplications.

Award contracts and communicate with subcontractors when their bids have been declined.

Review vendor proposals to prevent omissions. Coordinate with Project Manager input

Work, communicate, present, and negotiate directly with vendors, subcontractors, architects,

engineers

Prepare well documented change orders with Project Manager input and present to clients.

Utilize time management and organizational skills to service multiple projects in the course of a

business day.

Continually develop and maintain relationships with subcontractor and vendor base.

Prioritize, balance and achieve project goals by negotiating with subcontractors and vendors.

Provide Project Managers with ongoing project documents.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Wide general knowledge base, networking, and recent interaction with sub-tier vendors, public

authorities, and utilities in the region.

High level of attention to detail and cost analysis and best value.

Above average ability to read & interpret blueprints and specifications.

Proficient (recent) use of computer takeoff & estimating software

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Must communicate well (written, verbal, and electronically) with clients, all levels of company

staff, subcontracted vendors, and design professionals.

Flexibility and winning spirit/attitude.

Construction related Project Management experience preferred.

DESIRED QUALITIES:

- Quick moving. Adept at juggling multiple tasks across multiple projects in an ongoing manner.

- High attention to detail; reviewing bids and proposals.
